Ever wondered about the process that professional product photographers undertake to capture those eye-catching images that sell? Whether it’s for online or print advertising, the demand for top-notch product photography is undeniable. In this blog, we’ll break down how we help businesses create polished, commercial-grade images that showcase products at their best.
To get the most out of your product photography session, it's important to start by identifying the purpose of your images. We’ve designed our process to be flexible depending on your platform, marketing goals, or product type. You can ship your products to us, drop them off at our Marsden Park studio, or request an on-location session if that’s more suitable. On-site shoots aren’t just for large items. They are often the right choice for bulk orders, delicate or high-value products, food that needs to be prepared at your location, or lifestyle sessions staged in shops, showrooms, or booked venues.
Understanding Your Product Photography Needs
When planning a product shoot, it helps to think ahead about where and how your images will be used. Each platform or marketing goal can shape the type of images you need:
Ecommerce listings (like Amazon, eBay, or Shopify) often call for clean, consistent product photos on a white background.
Social media content benefits from styled or lifestyle imagery that stands out in feeds and stories.
Print campaigns such as brochures, flyers, or product catalogs may require a mix of both.
Whether you're after clear-cut images for online stores or more creative visuals for brand campaigns, we’ll help you align your shoot with your platform, audience, and product style during the planning stage.

Try a 360° Product Spin
Some products are best appreciated when seen from every angle. Below is an interactive sample of a 360-degree spin, created from multiple studio-lit images stitched into a smooth rotating view. These spins offer a dynamic and engaging way to showcase products for ecommerce, landing pages, or digital campaigns.

Getting Ready for Your Sydney Product Photography Session
Once you’ve explored the portfolio and identified the style of photography that fits your product and brand, it’s time to plan the logistics. Whether you're posting items to our studio, dropping them off in person, or scheduling an on-location shoot, this next stage ensures everything flows smoothly.
We’ll also guide you on how to prepare your items before the shoot. Clean, well-presented products help us capture the best possible results. If you're sending multiple units or coordinating packaging for styled setups, those details are worth planning ahead.
In the next sections, you'll find more information about how to deliver your products (or bring us to you) and how to prepare them so everything's ready on shoot day.
Delivery, Drop-Offs & On-Site Logistics
Getting your products to us, or organising an on-location shoot, is easy. We offer flexible options based on your product type and project needs:
Studio Drop-Off
You’re welcome to bring your items directly to our Marsden Park studio by appointment. This is often the fastest and safest option, especially for fragile, high-value, or time-sensitive products.
Courier or Postal Delivery
Many clients choose to ship their items to us. Please pack everything securely and include clear labels. A reference photo or packing list is helpful for smooth unpacking and organisation.
On-Location Photography
Some products are better photographed in their actual setting. Whether it’s due to size, quantity, how the item is installed, or the need for a styled backdrop, we can bring the shoot to you. We travel across Sydney for lifestyle setups in showrooms or venues, food photography that requires on-site prep, and large-scale or high-value items. Our team comes equipped with lighting, cameras, and styling tools to get the job done on site.
If you’re unsure which option works best, we’ll walk you through it during the planning or booking stage.
Preparing Your Products for the Shoot
To get the most out of your session, a bit of preparation goes a long way. Whether we’re photographing a boxed item in-studio, prepping styled scenes for your ecommerce launch, or capturing food fresh from your kitchen, here’s how you can help ensure a smooth shoot:
Send multiple units if possible
For packaged products, having 2–3 identical units gives us backup options in case of defects, creases, or labelling issues. It also allows us to style or stack items without damaging your only sample.
Ensure all items arrive clean and presentable
Products should be wiped down and dust-free. While we maintain a clean studio, smudges or surface dirt can delay the shoot or result in extra retouching. For lifestyle or on-location setups, please ensure your environment (e.g. kitchen, shop, showroom) is tidy and ready to go.
Include all relevant accessories or props
If your shoot includes packaging, ingredients, tools, or styling props, pack them clearly and label anything that’s optional. For food shoots, let us know in advance what’s being prepared on-site and whether you’ll provide serving ware or expect us to bring some.
Communicate any special handling or display notes
If your item is delicate, requires assembly, or needs to be shown from a specific angle, just flag this ahead of time so we can factor it into planning.
What Happens During the Shoot
Once your products arrive at our studio or we’ve set up at your location, our team manages the entire shoot with care and precision. We handle lighting, shot selection, camera work, styling, and setup, to ensure your visuals match the goals we discussed during planning.
We use a live view monitor on every product shoot so we can preview images in real time and adjust angles, styling, or positioning as needed. This helps ensure your visuals match the goals we discussed during planning, whether you're aiming for ecommerce consistency, campaign creativity, or lifestyle engagement.
Whether it’s a clean studio setup, a styled flat lay, or an on-location session, every part of the process is guided by what will best represent your product and brand.
Post-Photography Retouching & Finishing
Every product photography session includes essential post-processing to ensure your visuals are polished and professional. Our standard editing includes:
Colour Correction
Ensures consistent and accurate colours across product surfaces, labels, and packaging.
Photos above shows colour correction of product label.
Dust & Scratch Removal
Cleans up minor flaws, particles, or smudges that can detract from the final image.
Images above shows before & after photos of product image dust & scratches removal.
Depending on your shoot goals or prior agreement, we also offer optional enhancements:
Deep Etching
Isolates the product onto a transparent background for flexible use in marketing materials.

Image Enhancement & Logo Editing
Digitally refine packaging details, update label artwork, or sharpen key text and icons.

Infographics & Overlays
Add dimensions, icons, or product highlights directly onto your images for ads, web, or print.

Turnaround for final edited photos is typically 7 days, but faster delivery can be arranged depending on the project.
Final Delivery
Once editing is complete, you’ll receive a gallery of final images ready for your intended platform. File formats and export sizes will match your specifications (e.g. high-res for print, compressed for web, transparent PNGs for overlays, or web-optimised GIF/MP4 files for motion content).
This includes delivery for:
Still product photos
360° and stop-motion product animations
Short-form product demo videos
We’ll guide you through the review and selection process, and if you need additional retouched images or edits, optional add-ons can be arranged.
